Boutique is unique – the Invicta Hotel now AA four star accredited

Plymouth has a new four star Boutique hotel.

The Martin family are proud to announce that from September 2019 the Invicta Hotel is trading as a four star AA accredited Boutique Hotel.

Roy Martin and his family acquired The Invicta Hotel in October 2002.  At the time it was trading as a two star hotel. In 2009, the hotel achieved a three star hotel rating with both the AA and RAC.   Move the clock forward by ten years to September the 11th 2019 and the hotel has been awarded its fourth star by the AA.

The Invicta Hotel sits on Plymouth’s historic Hoe and is a grade 2 listed building. It also boasts being Plymouth’s oldest lodging house dating back to 1852.  It was designed by the famous architect John Foulston in 1842.

The journey from three to four star started in October 2018 with a capital investment in excess of £250,000 which was used to refurbish the public areas, restaurant, bar and lounge and many of the bedrooms, and the creation of a terrace for al fresco dining and drinking.  Over the coming year that refurbishment program will continue.

They have invested not only in the fabric of the building but also in staff which they see as one of the best investments of any business.  Two additional staff have joined the front of house team.

The kitchen is now led by a very talented new head chef, Kristofer Blyth, who joined the hotel after working as a chef in the House of Lords in London. The food and beverage manager was appointed internally and heads up the new Bowline Restaurant.  See the new Bowline Restaurant website with an exciting à la carte menu running from Thursday to Saturday.  The Invicta Hotel also runs its own Lounge Menu available from Monday to Saturday.  The restaurant and bar are open to non-residents.
